New toilet locks branded a success so far

New locks on toilets could be rolled out across South Holland after it was claimed they’ve been a success in Holbeach.

In August new heavy duty electronically timed locks were installed in the rebuilt toilets in the town.

And a meeting of South Holland District Council’s Performance Monitoring Panel recently was asked how that trial was going to toilets so they could be rolled out elsewhere including in Vine Street in Spalding.

Those toilets received a £3,000 refurbishment in January but had to shut soon after due to vandalism and are yet to reopen.

But the panel heard the news from Holbeach on how the new locks had kept those new toilets safe was encouraging.

Coun Tracey Carter said: “To date we’ve had no issues at all with the locks. There’s been no vandalism. With regards to the timing trial, it’s all gone extremely well.”
