Plans have been submitted to put information boards with Spalding’s stone sheep and cows.
The proposal by the town’s Civic Society, would see interpretation signage relating to the sculptures created by artist Graeme Mitcheson.
The Lincoln Longwool sheep represent the era of livestock auctions when more than 1,300 sheep were bought and sold.
“The sign is small and located on an existing fingerpost. The small scale means that it would not be overly noticeable,” says the report due to go before planning committee members yesterday (Wednesday).
Similar signage is proposed near the stone cattle, New Road, on the location of the old cattle market.
Both applications are for advertising consent for the signs.
The one relating to the cows would be installed in an existing planter.
