Four police officers have received commendations and a Royal Humane Society award after working to save members of the public.
PC Kevin Kelham and his colleague (who declined to be identified) arrived on the scene of a cardiac arrest before the ambulance crew.
They worked together ‘seamlessly’ to keep the patient alive until paramedics arrived.
“During this critical time, the situation became more complex when a relative of the patient arrived and was understandably deeply distressed,” said a police spokesman.
“Demonstrating exceptional composure and professionalism, one officer continued CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) while the other provided immediate care and support to the relative.”
The patient was revived and transported to hospital for emergency treatment – given the best possible chance of recovery.
“Sadly, despite the dedicated efforts of those officers and medical staff, the patient later died,” said the spokesman.
Ch Cons Paul Gibson presented commendation certificates and the Royal Humane Society Resuscitation Certificate to both officers.
Two more officers joined forces to help save the life of a man who suffered a cardiac arrest in Spalding.
Sgt Callum Corder and PC Laura Richardson (pictured above) leapt into action and their swift response proved to be lifesaving.
“Thanks to the exceptional teamwork, composure and lifesaving actions of all involved, the casualty was stabilised. Without the collective efforts of the public, together with the police, the outcome would not have been possible,” said the spokesman.
Ch Cons Gibson presented both officers with Commendation Certificates and a Royal Humane Society Resuscitation certificate.
