New Next outlet confirmed for Spalding

Work has started to make way for a major new Next Outlet store at Springfields Shopping Outlet in Spalding.

The transformation and fit out will take three months, with plans to open the new store in time for peak Christmas trading in December.

Ian Sanderson, head of Springfields, said: “We have worked hard for years to secure the introduction of Next, the most requested brand from our customers.

“The new anchor store will be in excess of 10,000 sq ft and sit in between M&S and Gap Outlet stores.

“Springfields already attracts over 2.3 million visitors a year from up to 90 minutes away, and we are confident that additional footfall created from the arrival of Next will not only benefit Springfields but Spalding and the entire South Holland district.’’

A Next spokesman said: “Springfields is already a popular destination attracting visitors from various regions and we are certain that our new outlet store will give our loyal Next customers a fantastic shopping experience.”

Springfields is in its 11th year of continual turnover growth since opening and has won several awards including one recently for “best International commercial landscape architecture 2014 /2015”.

The scheme’s results have been driven by Mr Sanderson who originally developed the scheme in 2004, and now runs the centre on behalf of the owners UBS Triton Property fund, with JLL as the managing agents.

The Next retail chain was launched in February 1982 and the first store opened with an exclusive coordinated collection of stylish clothes, shoes and accessories for women.

Collections for men, children and the home quickly followed.

Today Next trades from more than 500 stores in the UK and Eire and around 200 stores in more than 40 countries overseas.

Clothes are styled by its in-house design team to offer great style, quality and value for money with a contemporary fashion edge where prices at Springfields will be a minimum of 30 per cent off the high street.
