Lincolnshire Mayor Andrea Jenkyns has appointed a chief executive for the new Combined County Authority.
Lee Sirdifield has more than 20 years of experience in local government, and led Greater Lincolnshire’s devolution programme, writes Local Democracy Reporter Jamie Waller.
He was chosen after an extensive search, and the appointment was unanimously backed by representatives from the councils at a special meeting on Friday.
The £130,000 role offers a £10,000 performance bonus if KPIs are met in the first yet.
The chief executive will act as the “mayor’s principle adviser” and “be at the forefront of a bold new chapter in regional leadership”, according to the job advert.
Mr Sirdfield has worked at North Lincolnshire Council, City of Lincolnshire Council and South Kesteven District Council among others.
During his time at Lincolnshire County Council, he helped to secure the devolution deal which formed the mayor’s office.
Since February 2025, he has served as Interim Chief Operating Officer for the Combined County Authority.
Speaking at the meeting, Reform Mayor Andrea Jenykns said: “Lee is undoubtedly the right choice.
“His experience in local government over the last few decades is unrivalled, and he helped to set up Combined County Authority.”
North Lincolnshire Council leader Rob Waltham agreed: “It’s a big job to start the CCA and deliver on the devolution mandate.
“Lee is excellent – he understands the history of the authority and has a good handle on the political reality, which is a rarity in senior officers.”
The role is based at the Combined County’s headquarters in Lincoln, as the mayor has banned working from home.
