Netballers set to join the ball at next week’s Pride of South Holland Awards

There’s just over a week to go until the worthy winners of the Pride Awards take to the stage to collect their
trophies.

The final preparations have been made and the special, super secret celebrity guest has tapped Spalding into their sat-nav, ready to light up the South Holland Centre and hand awards to local heroes.

Thanks to everyone who nominated someone special to them or a group that’s made the community a better place.

The nominations that have come in over the past few months have made for heartening reading, with all corners of our community being celebrated by people whose lives have been touched in one way or another.

On Saturday, September 22, the South Holland Centre in Spalding will be packed with the district’s brightest shining stars, who will find out who’s won in each of the 11 categories.

Right now, the judges in each category are reading the nomination forms and supporting documents and taking on the tough task of choosing a first, second and third prize winner in each of their categories.

The winners in each category will go home with a stunning cut-glass statuette but all nominees will be given a well deserved thank you from everyone attending.

As usual, a special celebrity guest will be dishing out the awards. Previous guests have included stars from TV soaps and reality TV shows, so be prepared for a familiar face on stage among the winners.

If you have been nominated for an award, you will be contacted and invited to the ceremony.

If you would like to attend, limited spaces will be available once all invited guests have been confirmed.

Spaces must strictly be pre-booked. Email [email protected]

  • This week’s featured nominee is the newly formed but thriving Spalding Netball Club.

The person who nominated the club said: “I struggle for words as to how good those behind Spalding Netball Club are.

“The proof is in the commitment the committee has made to deliver and facilitate an environment that allows all people of any age, sex, shape, size and ability to take part in a team sport that is not very well represented in our area.

“The club has long term plans to develop into a CAPS and Clubmark accredited club that provides a safe, regulated environment for juniors, men and women of all abilities to participate in Netball.

“Players are now booked on courses on the England Netball officiating and coaching pathways.

“Spalding Netball Club has exploded onto the South Holland sporting radar and is here to stay!”
