Nene Valley Harriers’ older athletes can look forward to a Sunday outing to Milton Keynes after both the men and ladies qualified for the September finals of The Eastern Masters Track and Field League.
Both teams finished as runners-up to King’s Lynn based Ryston Runners in the meeting at Corby.
This also meant the Harriers came in second overall to easily qualify for finals day.
Highlights included Simon Achurch winning the over-35 javelin and discus and Sean Reidy with double firsts in the over-35 long jump and 400m hurdles, in which he delivered a 59.5secs clocking.
Ricky Huskisson clocked a speedy 25.6secs to win the over-50 200m and there were firsts for pole vaulter Adam Fidgett and over-60 discus thrower Tim Needham.
The ladies were grateful to Andrea Jenkins, who won the over-35 javelin.
She then followed that up with another first place in the discus after a 35.91m throw.
Team captain Claire Smith won the over-35 200m in a time of 27.8secs.
Rivals Peterborough AC failed to qualify for the finals.
