Narrow seaside defeat for Spalding Golf Club’s men at popular Seacroft venue

With Spalding Golf Club’s Surfleet course being closed due to unprecedented rainfall last week, men’s vice-captain Mike Crampton switched his teams match with Seacroft to the popular seaside venue.

The team ran out narrow losers 3.5-2.5 on the links course, with Spalding’s winners being Lawrie Haley and Maurice Crunkhorn and Dave Perrott and Stewart Sharp, with Crampton and his playing partner Wayne Wallace halving their match.

  • Spalding’s third team were also in action at Seacroft – and in the warm afternoon conditions they recorded a notable 4-2 victory.

Wins came from Dougie Alexander and Matt Preece, Simon Eagle and Frank Martino and Dave Colwell and Ted Portass, with captain Ian Ford and Greg Wright and Keith Moore and Mike Murphy both halving.
