The three Welland Yacht Club races on Sunday had a trio of different winners.
Andy Prior, Gail Follington and Mark Holland all tasted victory on what was a largely warm day with a decent breeze, with the latter landing the Munson Cup.
Ten boats – including four juniors – lined up to contest the third round of the Morning Points Series, but five of them capsized before the race even got under way.
Prior took an early lead from Geri van Haren and soon pulled out a considerable lead over the rest by the second lap.
Positions on the water remained unchanged throughout the race, but handicaps needed to be applied. In the end, Prior took the win from Holland, with Brian Cobb third and van Haren fourth.
The afternoon saw the final two races in the Munson Cup personal handicap series, with the best four results counting in the six-race competition.
This time the race got under way without incident, with Brian Cobb taking the lead from the pairing of Andy Prior and Will Cook, followed by another pair Neal Tack and Rebecca Slator, Rosie Willerton, Follington, Holland and Freya Willerton.
Despite a commanding lead on the water, handicap would push Prior and Cook to third, with Holland taking the win, Cobb holding his second, Follington fourth.
As the final race progressed, the boats filtered into speed of class order – apart from Cobb retaining second. The race then complete without further incident and the final result gave Follington the win from Cobb in second, with Holland taking third ahead of Cook and Prior fourth.
The overall series result was close, with Holland taking overall victory by the narrowest of margins from Follington.
