Moulton Harrox fell Timberlands to go fifth

Jack Barnett’s knock of 82 and five-fer for Nohmann Jarral helped Moulton Harrox to fell Timberlands in South Lincs and Border League Division One.

Moulton were on top right from the start in the away trip and it was Matthew Barnett who made the first impression as he took three wickets as Timberlands were left 14-4 early on in their innings.

Matthew took 3-26 in his 12 overs as the visiting side took control.

A brief response led by James Reason (26) helped Timberlands but by that time Jarral had started to shine.

He took 5-25 from 12 overs leaving the batting side 76-7.

A full counter attack however did come from number 10 Antony Longley who chanced his arm and helped himself to 51 not out from just 37 balls.

He hit six fours and three sixes in his innings and was backed by Sam Freeman (24) and the stubborn Richard Tonge (10).

Longley and Tongue put on 65 together which helped Timberland up to 143 for 8 from their 45 overs.

Jarral was the man to finally end Longley’s innings to complete his five wicket haul.

Moulton surpassed Timberland’s totalfor the loss of six wickets in only 28.2 overs, but it wasn’t without incident.

Opener Tom Coley was caught behind by Riley Pickwell (1-24) for a duck straight away.

Thankfully for Moulton though Jack Barnett kept his nerve to provide the spine of the innings.

He enjoyed particularly fruitful partnerships with Lewis Peak (11) and Alin Carter (19 not out) the latter of whom was on hand to guide his side home after Barnett was finally caught and bowled by Longley (3-24).

A late clatter of wickets added further gloss to the scorecard for Timberlands.

But it was Moulton who claimed a four wicket win with plenty of overs still in hand, Matthew Barnett was also 4 not out at the close.

Moulton take on the currently second in the table Belton Park this coming weekend hoping to close the gap on the teams towards the top of the division.

Their Sunday string, who were without a game this weekend, are back in action this Sunday at home to Wisbech 2nd.
