Martin romps to victory at Tydd Gote Angling Club’s latest match

There was a good turnout for Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday club match on the North Level at Main Road.

Martin Thomas found the bream from end peg 35 to comfortably romp home with 20 quality fish for a level 65lb.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Thomas who had to endure a pre-match ducking when a missed footing saw him tumble into the water.

He soon put that behind him though to latch into bream after bream from the favoured end-peg.

At the other end of the match length, the always consistent John Taylor found an early bream which along with some bits among several tangles with pike saw him into second place with 6lb 06oz.

Dick Paul also found some bream, three smaller specimens, from peg 34 to put him into third place with 6lb 04oz, followed by Steve Borrett with some quality roach on hemp for 5lb 04oz.

Wednesday Open Match result (Main Road) – 1st Jon Young 16lb 01oz; 2nd Pete Emery 9lb 10oz; 3rd Dick Paul 8lb 04oz.

Thursday Evening club match result (Blackdyke) – 1st Archie Greenwood 6lb 07oz; 2nd Pete Emery 4lb 06oz; 3rd Andy Lawrence 4lb.
