Man wearing just boxers damaged cars with snooker cue.

A snooker cue wielding man wearing just his boxer shorts caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to cars in a drunken middle of the night spree, a court has heard.

William Stuart Miller, 48, of The Chase, Holbeach, has been ordered to pay £700 to the car owners after admitting seven charges of criminal damage when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.

Marie Stace, prosecuting, said that at 1.30am on May 19, wearing just his boxer shorts and carrying a snooker cue, Miller damaged seven cars, including two police cars, in Edinburgh Walk and Fleet Street, Holbeach.

She said that he broke a number of the vehicle windows with the cue as he walked down the pavement and then went to Holbeach police station, where he stood on the roofs of two police vehicles and a private parked car and smashed the windscreens and wing mirrors.

After his arrest he apologised and said he could not remember doing anything.

Mitigating, Carrie Simson said Miller had had ‘one mad moment’.

She said it had been ‘an act of desperation on his part’ following a year in which his brother had died and he and his partner of 27 years had split up.

Ms Simson said he had a row with his new partner and although normally he didn’t drink at all, he had gone out and drunk a bottle of brandy.

“One of the vehicles actually belonged to his friend, that’s how erratic it was,” she said.

In addition to the compensation, Miller was fined £500 and ordered to pay £50 in charges.
