Spalding Water Polo enjoyed a 13-9 win over Milton Keynes and Dunstable at the Castle pool last Tuesday night.
The game was a see-saw match, with both teams winning two quarters each.
MK and Dunstable took a 3-2 lead after the first quarter, with Spalding’s goals from Damien Makwana and Ed Martin.
But Spalding took control of the second quarter, scoring three goals to one – which included a superb goal from the halfway line by Makwana. The other goals came from John James and Tom Marsters to make it 5-4 at half-time.
MK and Dunstable had the slight edge in the third quarter, scoring four to Spalding’s three to make it 8-8. Makwana, Martin and Matt Papworth got the home goals.
However, Spalding stepped it up a notch in the fourth quarter, controlling the game and winning it 5-1 with goals from Ben Marsters (2), James, Makwana and Martin.
