Making the best of a rainy day for Pinchbeck parade

The Best of British was on display – despite the typical English weather – at Pinchbeck Carnival.

Light showers and heavier downpours failed to dampen the enthusiasm of all the village groups who took to the streets for the annual parade.
Those who took part, including the village school, kids’ club, pre-schools, rainbows, brownies and guides, represented the theme in a number of ways, including a day at the seaside, Wimbledon and women’s wartime roles.
It was all led by Pinchbeck Royalty, the carnival queen Chloe Young and princesses Melissa Wales and Elizabeth Neal.
South Holland and the Deepings MP John Hayes officially opened the carnival at Rotten Row playing field, which was hosted by Tulip Radio.
Attractions included a horseback acrobatic act, singing from Act II and balloon modelling.
Later in the evening there was live music from Henry Birkett and Bad to the Bone and carnival weekend was rounded off on Sunday with a church service and lunch.
Carnival committee secretary Jane Amess said: “The weekend went well but we were very disappointed as it rained nearly all day on Saturday.
“However, we still had a lot of people on the field and lining the parade route so want to thank all those who did brave the weather.”
