Every year in July I visit the council offices to have an annual Life Certificate certified for the German pension authorities.
I then return the certificate to Germany to ensure my pension continues to be paid for another year.
However, at present due to the pandemic the offices are closed and there is still no indication on the council website when they will reopen.
If I don’t return the certificate promptly, the pension payments will cease.
Note that I am British and I receive the pension as a result of having worked as a guest worker in Germany for a number of years in the 1970s.
Schools reopened on Monday and some businesses soon after.
Maybe The Voice will have better luck in finding out from the local authority when it plans to reopen the offices to visitors for this vital certification service.
