I am very concerned that South Holland Council are failing to live up to promises made in a timely manner.
On September 26, 2023, which is now eight months ago, after a very expensive and thorough survey, Coun Rob Gibson promised that enforcement of the TRO which prevents traffic into the Market Place between 10am and 4pm would be enforced as quickly as possible.
At the meeting of the Spalding Town Forum he stated that action would be taken to install barriers that can be raised up and down.
He also claimed he had spoken to Coun Nick Worth, leader of the council, who had agreed to look at a council department responsible for lifting the barrier.
Would Coun Gibson please explain what, if anything, has been done since September 26?
The temporary barrier that was once placed in the road to stop traffic is no longer used and lies at the side of the road and traffic flows freely all day long, despite a no entry sign in place.
In the same meeting Coun Elizabeth Sneath explained that more should be in place for disabled parking. Has anything been done since last September?
The survey stated that the majority of respondents wanted the TRO enforcing and traffic banned from the market place.
Has any investigation been carried out as to what type of barriers are required and when can we expect to see action on the results of this expensive survey?
