LETTERS – What are surgeries doing?

My husband has many prescriptions and now it is taking over a week to get many items because of severe shortages at chemists!
I have seen television reports also talking of shortages.
I contacted my doctors’ surgery to tell them and to ask if they had had discussions as to what to do.
If my husband can’t get his pain killers he will be in agony and would presumably have to go cold turkey.
How will the surgery help if these conditions actually do come about? As usual I was told by receptionist to put my concerns in a letter.
I was told that the owner of the surgery would maybe answer the phone on a Thursday, and his second, would maybe take a call on a Thursday only as well.
The receptionist said that they have to be told by the pharmacy if there is a shortage, people like me (being just a patient) didn’t count.
The receptionist couldn’t put me through to anyone ie the practice manager because he/she was on holiday.
