LETTERS – We need forward thinking

I refer to three excellent articles in The Voice (July 30) regarding the council’s inability to maintain and administer our town centre and surrounding areas.

These three articles voiced the opinion of many Spaldonians, all of which go conveniently unheard by the council.

Whoever heard of a market town with no market? It’s utter nonsense that the stall holders should erect their own stalls due to the current circumstances.

As stated in your previous letters, the refuse collectors and other council workers all sit and work together, so where’s their social distancing etc for this excuse to be made?

Whatever happened to our flower show? Never replaced by anything of such worth as to pull in tourists as it once did.

The heart has gone from this town and there is no pride in its upkeep either as clearly seen on Winsover Road and other areas within the town.

With all the proposed new building, what will these new residents think of our town, now filled with overgrown hedges, hiding all the highway signs

Overgrown bushes and walkways where mobility scooters etc cannot pass by. Bins left unemptied for weeks on end. Our own road was last swept ten months ago! The list is endless.

I think we need a new open minded forward thinking council.
