LETTERS – UTC is good news for area

The news regarding urgent treatment care (UTC) being available at the Johnson Hospital is good for the area.

It follows a long, sustained campaign to see that South Holland was not to be the only district in Lincolnshire without a UTC.

I have fought hard for it through the presentations and through Health Scrutiny Committee for Lincolnshire, but we should not forget the local residents, patients and GPs who have also fought for it.

To suggest that urgent treatment would only be at Boston hospital would be bizarre.

To negotiate the complex traffic of Boston would mean even more people, even perhaps from Kirton or Donington, deciding that it was easier to go ‘out of county’ to King’s Lynn or Peterborough, adversely affecting the financial health of Lincolnshire health services.

So many thanks to all who fought for this, and achieved a good result, and many thanks to the Health authorities for listening to our strong case.
