It’s disgusting that Riley O’Sullivan has left Spalding United. (Ed – After scoring 22 goals last season the forward went back on his word to re-sign for the Tulips, instead to sign for Harborough Town of the same division).
It emphasises what I’ve always said about footballers; they don’t care about the supporters, they only care about the money.
Committing himself to the Tulips and then going down the road when he’s had what he said was an ‘offer he couldn’t refuse’.
I’ve heard it was £800 a week and a £50,000 signing-on fee.
What does it say about the loyal supporters who pay their money to go each week and shout their lungs out for the team including myself, an 84-year-old pensioner?
If I ever see him I’ll tell him to his face what a money grabbing so and so he is.
I’m not against anyone furthering their career, and I’m not saying the team won’t still go on to great things, but Riley has let down the team, the fans and the town. It’s like we’ve been kicked in the guts; he’s a money grabbing mercenary.
