LETTERS – Save the trees we have

I refer to the article in the Voice dated March 22, regarding Lord Porter’s boastful opinion on how he and the Woodland Trust wish to create a woodland in every town and village in the local area.
Maybe he could lend an idea to the builders building thousands of properties and request they stop tearing up large swathes of land destroying all the trees, hedging, fauna and wildlife, just to replace it with huge housing estates and no greenery?
All these new estates are completely devoid of any trees, bushes and hedging and in no way contribute to the wellbeing of our nature or wildlife of our community that we all live in.
Then consider planting a woodland area once this has been addressed!
You would need to plant numerous woods to counteract the damage that’s already been done.
