Battling with Zoom calls and other virtual meetings during lockdown seems to be the order of the day for many of us so it will be no surprise to say that it has limited the usual activities of Spalding’s South Holland Rotary members.
We usually meet every week at The Woodlands Hotel on Pinchbeck Road in Spalding and although that has not been possible there is some good news to report.
We have begun distribution of the generous donations received from Spalding residents in last December’s Santa Sleigh campaign by supporting local charities and good causes, including the Spalding Foodbank and the local branch of Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.
The local groups and organisations which helped us with the collection would normally have been invited to one of our meetings to be presented with a cheque to support their activities.
As we have not been able to meet yet, the money has been paid out, but we will invite the groups and friends to a summer event and barbecue when we are out of lockdown to properly thank them.
For the record we are grateful for the support of members from the following local groups who helped with the collection: Spalding Cycling Club, Juvenile Diabetes (J.D.R.F), Spalding Gym Club, Hope & Homes for Children, Friends of St John the Baptist Primary School, Spalding Young Farmers, The 5th Spalding Rainbows, Spalding & Welland Rotary Club, Wygate Park Academy PTA, The 1st Cowbit Brownies, Spalding Rugby Club, Broad St Methodist Church and last, but not least Spalding PHAB group. Thank you all again.
