LETTERS – Have to travel for health

My mum and dad live in Long Sutton and they have a number of health conditions.

When it comes to hospital appointments they keep being referred to King’s Lynn.

There are hospitals in both Spalding and Wisbech, but they never get referred.

My mum had to have a heart test and once again she was sent by the GP to King’s Lynn.

She asked if she could go to one of those other hospitals that are closer, but was told due to reductions in finances and staff we have to travel further.

Heart monitoring tests could be done at a GP surgery, but instead my mum with all her health problems, has to continue to travel back and forth to King’s Lynn.

It’s all down to government funding and the staff not being paid what they’re worth.

Just this week my dad’s been told he’s got to wait 22 weeks for treatment for a wrist injury.

With the mess we’re in with this government the doctors and health professionals around here will have a job to keep up with the thousands of new houses being built in towns including Long Sutton.

There’s lots of new houses and but we’re lacking in medical facilities.
