LETTERS – Food banks established in 2000

On the letters page on January 9 is a letter relating to food banks from I Sloan.

Had the writer done some simple research they would have discovered that the first food bank was established in Salisbury in 2000.

Coincidently, three years after Tony Blair and the Labour Party won the election of 1997. They remained on power until 2010 when we had the David Cameron/Nick Clegg coalition.

This beggars the question, what did the Labour Party do to alleviate the need for food banks during their 13 years in government?

By all means people can criticise whichever political party they wish but please check your facts before making such public statements.
