LETTERS – Any more surprises for us?

Until recently many local people, that also includes business owners in the area, were not fully aware that the Springfields organisation when setting up their retail outlet on the edge of Spalding, initially had given over £1m to the council towards funding local amenities.

Although, it seems they are also giving a lot more cash to them now their latest extension plans have been ‘approved’ by the council. Many might suggest or wonder how could they could refuse them anyway?

Perhaps a list of where this £1m has been spent over the past 15 or so years might be forthcoming from SHDC.

Now we get the appointment of Nathan Elvery as Chief Executive Officer for SHDC who Lord Gary Porter has been quoted as having full confidence in.

We now have the delight of finding that SHDC is featured in the current edition of ‘Private Eye’ magazine in their ‘Rotten Boroughs’ page as Mr Elvery is well known to them due to his past activities, which leaves a lot to be desired, and indeed the internet is also a gold mine of information about him.

The key question is now are there any more ‘surprises’ we may be finding out about soon?
