LETTERS – The NHS is closed

It is time one of the papers did an article about the cost saving COVID-19 and the NHS waste of money.

My husband had a telephone consultation at Long Sutton Medical Centre in June because his ears need syringing annually, the doctor said he must see his dentist.

He saw the dentist on June 18, so his instructions were carried out. I rang the practice on June 19 and asked if he could get his ears syringed, apparently they don’t do it any more but she could put his name forward for triage at the hospital, I said that was ok.

On October 23 he received a four page letter, first class post from the Pilgrim Hospital allotting him a video consultation on November 24.

Ok I know they all want to do everything by video link, but why waste money on a four page letter to arrange a video link appointment and waste an ENT surgeon’s time when they know full well that they cannot syringe his ears over the computer.

I shall cancel this appointment and he will have to suffer, but what about the poor souls that have something serious, they cannot operate over video link and several of our friends don’t have internet, mobiles etc. This point is very dear to my heart and many other poor people around us.

The NHS is closed, but they haven’t told us.

Holbeach Hospital is full of many poor seniors who have been there since January and are not allowed to spend their last moments in their own home.
