LETTERS – Crossing near Aldi more useful

The pedestrian street crossing on Holbeach High Street is working perfectly, with handrails directing and protecting users, I know of no casualties there.
Now a decision has been made to close streets for three weeks, spend £100,000 to remove handrails and update at a time when money supposedly restricted.
A crossing a few hundred yards east where Aldi is opening a new store I consider could be more useful.
