I would like to thank all businesses and individuals who again sponsored baskets, troughs and floral arrangements in our town this year, and also welcome on board new sponsors.
The town has looked lovely this year and I know hundreds of people have appreciated seeing so many flowers and the efforts of all who have given many hours of their time to make it happen.
Special thanks to Jan Whitbourn and Chris Carter of Tulip Radio who took photographs around the town and to Julian Wheeler and Jan who compiled and edited the presentation brochure for the East Midlands in Bloom judges, Dave Briggs for his input, Phil Scarlett of Spalding Chamber for collecting the orders and increasing our baskets from 69 to 106, Sarah Patterson and David Sanderson for co-ordinating displays in The Crescent and Francis Street (and removing all the weeds and litter), Pete Williams for providing plants and removing weeds and litter in New Road, the group of young people from the National Citizen Service who spent nearly a week helping clean up areas along the route along with many other volunteers and Mr and Mrs White for their regular efforts to rid our town of litter and graffiti. Ben Williams from The Punch Bowl for putting up the additional brackets for new baskets, John Naylor for making up our baskets and troughs again this year, Andrian Nind from Spalding Bulb and Plant Company for sponsoring all the baskets at charity shops and SHDC for grounds maintenance and hanging baskets.
Without the work of many other volunteers who cleared nearly 30 bags of weeds and rubbish last week alone, our town would be a poorer place. Well done to you all.
Many thanks
Councillor Angela Newton
