LETTER: Send message to Lib Dems

I don’t usually write letters to local media, but having heard Lib Dem candidate, Davina Kirby talk down South Holland and the Deepings on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, I felt compelled to do so.

As she lives hundreds of miles away, how does she have the authority to describe our community in such insulting terms? Her leaflet that came through our door said ‘Stop Brexit’. Is she tone deaf? I know she has stood in numerous seats across the country in pursuit of power, but this is south Lincolnshire not South Kensington!

On a national level, I have been truly appalled by the divisive rhetoric of the Liberal Democrats. It is shameful that a party made up largely of the wealthy is seeking to cancel the biggest democratic mandate in British political history, in an attempt to protect their own vested interests.

Jo Swinson may arrogantly declare that she is “the Prime Minister we deserve”, but working people round here have no time for her pretentions.

For the last three years I’ve watched on the telly as John Hayes has fought for us against those who seek to belittle towns and villages like ours.

Every time I get angry about the multitude of MPs trying to frustrate the will of the people, I am relieved to remember that our man in Parliament can be relied on to deliver: John Hayes is right, as he’s said in Parliament many times, “enough is enough, we need to get on, get out, so we can get ahead. It’s as simple as that.”

We want Brexit and we want it now. That’s why I urge my friends and neighbours to vote for him – to get Brexit done and send a message to the patronising London Lib Dems.
