LETTER: Independent should be that

I was very interested to receive an election leaflet from an Independent candidate for the upcoming elections, which states in the leaflet an independent means exactly that, I have no party leader or a group to dictate what I can say or who I can support.

I feel this is very misleading statement as on the back of the same leaflet it has the leader of the Independents group endorsing this candidate.

Is it me or is the Independent candidate trying to mislead the public?

I was considering voting for my local Independent candidate, but I will not be doing so now because they are clearly operating as a political group.
