Leaders slip up against rivals

In Division One of the Spalding League, leaders Drayman’s Arms lost to Tigers C in a top-of-the-table clash. Drayman’s had eight consecutive wins before going down 7-2 on Monday. There was some fine darts from Tigers with a 180 and a 14 and 18-dart leg. Duncan Hunt was player of the night.
Son and father-in-law Mark Horspool and Simon Hill had an 18-dart leg and Ant Richardson hit a fine 13-dart leg. Sole singles’ winner for Drayman’s was young Logan Goddard.
A Consti derby saw the A team come out on top 7-2 against their E team. Singles wins from Jason Vines, Nick Moyses, Kieran Bowman and Sam Roberts were enough to secure victory. Consti A captain Roberts had a fine game with seven 100+s in the singles, a 15-dart leg and a 158 check-out. Vines slotted in an 18-dart leg and Callum Ward had a 17-dart leg for the E team.
Division One’s other game saw another 7-2 win, going the way of Rose and Crown in their clash with Green Dragon. Claire Brookin, Gary Mace, Adam Godfrey, Ian Lawson, and Hank Watson won their singles for the Rose and Crown. Brookin also fired in a 180 as did Tim Hester for the Green Dragon, their only singles’ winner.
There was a close 5-4 win for Tigers B versus Lincoln A in Division Two. Danny Goddard got the vital win against Luke Rhodes. Other singles winners were Richard Brook and Phil Horspool. Horspool had a 100 check-out and a 17-dart leg.
Ye Olde Abbey remain top after a 7-2 win against Royal Mail Cart. Father and son Craig and Dave Norbury fired in 180s for the Abbey. Other winners were JJ Bird, Elliot Capper and Dean Parker. Mail Cart’s singles winners were captain Josh Faulkner and Jacob Herd. Elsewhere there was a 6-3 win for Punchbowl against Consti D.
Chris Fidler fired in a 180 in his win against Steve Emery. The other two singles wins came from Paul Sellars and Simon Fidler.
A top-of-the-table clash in Division Three was won convincingly by Ship (Long Sutton) 8-1 against Oscars Bar. Sole winner for Oscars was Jonny Pell. Jake Hinta-Penta had a 124 check-out and Tom Burton slipped in a 17-dart leg for the Ship.
Drayman’s B moved up the table with a 6-3 win against Lincoln B. Drayman’s winners were Connor Hughes, Sandy Sandison, Shane Thorpe, and Wigs Harrison.
Punchbowl B beat HUSC 5-4. Jamie McHugh got the all-important win.
