Latest four weeks of work to start on repeatedly sinking Holbeach road

Workers will begin digging-up a Holbeach road for a four-week project to try and cure the problems of a sink hole.

Boston Road South has been at the centre of investigation work since the latest hole appeared.

The area from Holbeach Primary School to Cecil Pywell Avenue will be the first phase of the Anglian Water work and is expected to start tomorrow. (Thursday).

Lincolnshire County Council expects the work to last four weeks and residents will be kept updated via letters from the water company.

Once Anglian Water has finished, the county council will then put in place a repair and rebuild project.

It’s expected this will be the first week of June and details will be released nearer the time when the picture becomes clearer.

“The situation is far from ideal but in this unique case we and our partners have had to investigate the area as much as possible before any excavation could begin.

“Thankfully it now appears that the works can progress,” said Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways.

“As ever I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone effected by this situation for their patience and understanding around the issues that need to be overcome and resolved,” he added.
