A stunning 121 not out from Jack Barnett steered Moulton Harrox to an impressive eight-wicket win over Heckington on Saturday.
The Harrox opener ensured that chasing down Heckington’s 204-5 was a walk in the park as his side moved into the top four of South Lincs and Border League Division One.
Having won the toss and chosen to bat, visitors Heckington will have been pretty pleased with their efforts. Ian Glendinning (56), Jake Ellis (45) and Ben Hutson (45) all scored well as they managed to pass 200 in their 45 overs.
Maxwell Cusack (2-24), Joe Lyon (1-36), Karl Hibbert (1-32) and Martin Chapman (1-16) all took wickets for the hosts, but it was a tough afternoon in the field.
However, the chase proved pretty easy. That’s because Barnett was in stellar form, anchoring the innings to near perfection.
Harrox needed just 31 overs to reach their target, with skipper Chapman (39), Matt Barnett (14) and Hibbert (10 not out) keeping the centurion company well.
They closed on 205-2 to claim 17 points and are now just 20 points behind leaders Spalding Town 2nd.
- Moulton Harrox’s Sunday side suffered only their second loss of the season in Rutland League Division Six over the weekend as Uffington edged a tight tussle.
Karl Hibbert (38), Will Shields (28), Alex Sowerby (26), Alin Carter (25) and Joe Griffiths (20) all scored well in Harrox’s 166 all out from 42 overs.
That was always going to be a tricky target – especially with Rob Sexton taking 5-38 for Moulton.
But Uffington, buoyed by 43 from Felix Cunningham and 33 from Matt Tarrant, reached 170-8 in the 47th over to take the spoils.
That result allowed Spalding Town to leapfrog Harrox in the Division Six table. They cruised to a seven-wicket win over Newborough 2nd at the Memorial Field on Sunday.
Three wickets apiece from Jon Manton (3-12) and Jack Sawyer (3-6) saw the visitors bowled out for 103, before Tim Norris (46) and Manton (44 not out) fired Spalding to a winning 104-3.
