Pete Emery did the double at this week’s Tydd Gote Angling Club matches on the North Level at Main Road.
At the Wednesday Open he just edged it with 7lb 14oz of roach and rudd, pushing Dave Simmonds’ 7lb 3oz of pinkie caught roach into second place, with Dennis Houghton in third with 5lb 8oz.
And on the Sunday Club Match it was Emery again leading the way with some good roach on the pole at 11m to leave give Dave Simmonds as the bridesmaid again.
His 7lb 7oz of roach also at 11m interrupted by the resident pike.
Andrew Kilby was third with 6lb 14oz and Steve Borrett in fourth with a level 6lb.
Ian Benton was ambushed by a tench that picked up his single pinkie hookbait but his light bottom held as he steered a near 4lb fish to his net, the major part of his 5lb 5oz.
In the higher numbers, the pike anglers struggled, Robbie Wright’s 16lb specimen easily winning out over smaller jack fish.
