Holbeach United smash rivals Lutterworth Town for six to claim sweet revenge

Holbeach United 6 Lutterworth Town 2

Revenge was sweet for Holbeach United on Saturday as they smashed Lutterworth Town 6-2.

The Tigers, who felt “poorly treated” when they went down 1-0 in the reverse fixture back on March 3, romped to victory in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division at Carter’s Park.

Jonny Lockie, Liam Adams, Michael Frew, Jon Fairweather, Josh Ford and an own goal gave Danny Hussey’s side a resounding win just 24 hours after the boss revealed he’d be leaving the club at the end of the season.

The boss was delighted with the second half performace his side delivered – and admitted that they were inspired by a half-time reminder of Lutterworth’s antics.

“I’m just happy to have beaten them,” said Hussey. “It wasn’t a nice experience to go there, if I’m honest.

“We were treated very poorly by everyone at the club – they’re just not very nice, truth be told.

“That was something I reminded the lads of at half time when I gave them a bit of a rollocking.

“We also switched systems to a 3-5-2, as Michael Frew was looking a little isolated up top.

“After that, we were absolutely superb. We won 6-2, but it easily could have been nine or ten but for their keeper.

“I don’t know what happens next with regards to coronavirus and if we’ll play again this season.

“But if it’s the last game of the season, it’s a great way to sign off.”

Tigers: Drury, Wilson (Bird 61), Fairweather, N Jackson, T Smith, Tidswell (Ford 61), Tinkler, A Jackson, Adams, Lockie (Balding 87), Frew. Not used: Gadsden.

Attendance: 87.
