Hit and run driver sent to Crown Court

A 29-year-old driver has admitted hitting two pedestrian and failing to stop.

William Jones, 29, of Washway Road, Fleet, admitted dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident while driving his BMW 120D car dangerously in New Road, Spalding on May 1.

Boston magistrates heard he struck two pedestrians in the collision and then drove off.

Appearing for Jones, Michael Alexander said there was a dispute between the prosecution and defence
versions of what happened, in that the prosecution said one of the injured parties was on the pavement but the defence case was that both were in the road.

The magistrates ruled that the case should be sent to the Crown Court at Lincoln to resolve the issue and to sentence Jones and he was allowed bail until a date to be arranged and was given an interim driving ban.
