Historic Spalding retailer announces closure date

Spalding menswear shop Mann and Son has announced its closure date next month.

The Hall Place shop is closed until Thursday (May 19) when it re-opens for a final retirement sale ahead of its last day of trading on Saturday, June 25.
The business has been trading from the same premises for 105 years, under the guidance of three generations of the Mann family.

Proprietor Nigel Mann said: “It was a very difficult decision to make, as trade remains very good and Spalding is still a very buoyant shopping centre.”
The shop will continue to reduce prices up until its closure day.

Nigel and wife Joy said: “We would like to take the opportunity to thank generations of customers, a lot of whom have become friends, for their loyal support over the years and encourage them to continue using the eclectic range of independent traders in Spalding.”

As revealed in The Voice last month, the premises is due to become the new base for the Spalding branch of Uniq Employment Services.
Currently based in Winsover Road, it occupies one of a number of leased unit due to be demolished as part of expansion plans for Aldi.
