Hanging baskets to bloom in town

Spalding town centre will be fully blooming again thanks to Spalding BID.

Yesterday (Wednesday) 130 new hanging baskets were installed around the town.

Spalding BID are bringing back the hanging baskets this year as part of many town improvements in the pipeline.

“We will need to wait a couple of weeks for the baskets to fully come into bloom but are really looking forward to seeing BIDs very first town improvement initiative.

“Visitors, shoppers and residents will come into town and enjoy the great floral displays; helping our streets to feel vibrant, boost civic pride and create a more inviting environment” said Sarah Fletcher, manager of Spalding BID.

In preparation, the baskets have been planted by Glenside Nurseries in Pinchbeck, the existing brackets weight stress checked, and new ones installed where required.

Once up, to keep them healthy the baskets will be watered three times a week throughout the season.

Each commercial sized hanging basket has a 10ltr water chamber underneath to also help it from drying out.

At the end of the season, the baskets will be collected and stored throughout the winter ready for reuse next year.
