Groundhop 2018: Wins for Moulton Harrox and Sutton Bridge but Whaplode Drove defeated

Moulton Harrox got their ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division campaign under way with a 3-2 victory over promoted Tydd FC on Saturday.

The South Holland derby, which was part of the UCL and PDFL Groundhop, was settled by goals from Joe Townsend (2) and Ian Bradbury in front of 342 fans.

Prolific marksman Jake Clitheroe notched twice for Tydd, who proved they’ll have more than enough to be competitive in their first-ever Premier Division campaign.

Also in the top tier, Matt Eaton notched a hat-trick as Sutton Bridge United saw off Peterborough Polonia at Memorial Park.

Jack Fowler and Joe Sutton also bagged for Bridge, with Dorian Janicki, Piotrek Stepien and Przemyslaw Wojtowicz the Polonia scorers.

The away side also had Pawel Lacina sent off for two yellow cards just past the hour in a game that boasted an attendance of 337.
