Great finals weekend concludes top Spalding and District Bowls League season

The Spalding and District Bowls League rounded off another successful season with its popular finals weekend.

The first final of the weekend was a cracker, with Spalding Town edging out Carter’s Park 80-79 in an incredibly close Guardian Trophy showdown.

Spalding Town then won the Sid Lane Cup in the first of Sunday’s matches – all played at Spalding Town BC – beating Royal Mail Cart 81-51.

Next up was the Perseverance Singles, with N Puttrell seeing off K Kirton 21-11.

Played at the same time, S Hammond also lifted the Rushby Rose Bowl by beating B Deaton 21-20 in a classic clash.

The Rix Trophy went the way of P and A Caress, who outgunned M Wheatley and T Windsor 20-12.

E Cherry, H Mycock and C Mycock then lifted the Pickering Cup by dispatching M Simpson, S Hill and M Dolton 19-7, while D Crane beat O Gedney 21-18 to win the Fisher Shield.

Next up, N Cherry and A Cherry pipped N Wheatley and T Windsor 18-15 to land the Freir Shield, while T Philpott and S Wade were the Munson Cup winners after an 19-11 success against C Jackson and M Hubbert.

The last two finals saw W Phoenix beat P Cherry 21-15 in the Hase Cup and K Kirton and J McGroarty knock of T Bowden and C Forman 20-15 in the Perserverance Pairs.
