Good rating for Spalding care home

Staff, residents and families at Ashwood Nursing Home in Spalding were delighted to continue to be rated ‘Good’ in all areas in their latest Care Quality Commission report.

The report praised the homes open and inclusive culture and noted that residents continued to receive care from staff who were kind, patient and considerate.

The report highlighted that people were comfortable and relaxed in the company of staff and inspectors observed how care was provided with kindness, patience and consideration.

This was reinforced by family members who said: “The staff are so patient with people, it’s a pleasure to see.”

Another said: “The staff are excellent, they really do care about the residents.”

The report found that people and their families were fully involved in decisions about care and that ‘Life Story’ books were used to promote understanding of people’s preferences.

Inspectors spoke to residents and their families about how safe the service was, one person commented “I don’t have any worries about being safe.

“There always seems to be someone to check on you.”

Inspectors noted that the home had benefited from an extensive refurbishment which as seen complete redecoration and remodelling of the lounge and dining areas. The nursing home now has a bistro café, hair salon and shop.
