Fundraiser is hoping to resurrect festive fair

A Holbeach fundraiser is looking for volunteers to help him get the town’s Christmas fair up and running again.

Les Ward, who holds regular charity bingo sessions and runs a charity stall on the market, says he would like to see the event resurrected.

The traditional Christmas fair, which was held in the town for many years and saw the High Street packed with stalls and entertainment, hasn’t been held for several years due to a lack of committee members willing to help organise it.

For the last two years a group of volunteers has organised a traditional Victorian-style fair held in and around All Saints’ Church instead.

Mr Ward said: “Wouldn’t it be very nice to get the original Christmas fair up and running again?

“There are a lot of people commenting that Holbeach is becoming a ghost town.

“For one day a year how many people are willing to help and get the fun day back on track?

“It would bring back the smiling faces and get shop tills ringing again.

“I am up for a new challenge, who is prepared to come forward and help?”

Anyone who is prepared to help Mr Ward can contact him on 01406 425947.
