LETTER: Holbeach is woefully underfunded

In reply to Coun R Gammba-Jones’ letter 20/01/2016:

Obviously Paul Foyster and Roger have differing political allegiances.

The issues of market position can only be answered by trying it down at the new site.

However Roger seems to imply that all is fair when it comes to the distribution of monies and services within the district.

This, of course, is incorrect, Holbeach as the second largest town in the district is woefully underfunded by Lincolnshire County Council and South Holland District Council.

Let’s not be fooled – the provision of a roundabout at the Peppermint Junction is only what should have been provided when the bypass was built. The feeder roundabout halfway down the Holbeach bypass is a necessity of the development and is therefore a developer cost.

The land for development (housing) is historically owned by Lincolnshire County Council and others.

The provision of an amount of money per plot, let’s say £1,000 would deliver a considerable fund for the improvement of Holbeach town and the surrounding area.

Let’s not miss the opportunity to get something going for Holbeach town.

Councillors, the gauntlet has been thrown down, put politics to one side and deliver something for the town of Holbeach.
