From BAM to SLAM: a new name for bikers’ safety

A motorcycle safety charity has revealed its new name and reiterated its pledge to help fellow riders stay safe.

Registered charity Boston Advanced Motorists (BAM) has been working tirelessly to improve road safety in South Lincolnshire, so its changed its name to South Lincolnshire Advanced Motorists (SLAM) to reflect its reach.

“In reality, the group has been covering the whole of the South Lincolnshire area, not just Boston,” a spokesman said.

He added: “Together with an increasing demand from motorcyclists, this has prompted the change of name to South Lincolnshire Advanced Motorcyclists to more accurately reflect the group’s activities in Skegness, Boston, Horncastle, Sleaford, Bourne, Spalding, Holbeach, Sutton and surrounding areas.”

An official provider of IAM RoadSmart Advanced Driver and Advanced Rider courses, the team at BAM has coached and mentored residents through their Advanced Driver and Advanced Rider courses.

Clive Shardlow, SLAM chairman, said: “If you are a motorcyclist and want to find out more about becoming an Advanced Rider, talk to us.”

Clive added: “However, if you are thinking about the Advanced Driver course, you can do no better than contact our excellent colleagues at Lincoln Advanced Motorists who will now look after drivers in the Skegness, Boston, Horncastle, Sleaford, Bourne, Spalding, Holbeach, Sutton and surrounding areas.”
