Fresh bid to develop caravans and log cabins site in Whaplode

A renewed bid is being made to create a site for ten touring caravans and five log cabins in Millgate, Whaplode.

A fresh planning application has been submitted by David Rous for land behind Irby House, to be accessed via Little Lane.

The proposal said: “The applicant has been attempting for several years to acquire planning permission for various uses to make use of the former horticultural enterprise which ceased several years ago.”

If this plan before South Holland District Council is successful it is hoped funds generated from the log cabins and caravan site will allow foundations and debris from demolished greenhouses to be cleared to create recreational areas. The cabins and touring pitches would be placed on a grass paddock area.

It is hoped the site can be marketed for golf and cycling breaks or to offer access to local attractions such as Moulton Mill.
