A familiar Spalding building has become a brand new wedding venue – and its owners are holding an open day this weekend for prospective couples to see the town’s newest place to tie the knot.
Oliver and Dorota Sneath bought their Grade II listed former Magistrate’s Court House home in December 2016 and as The Sessions House, have converted two sections into distinct venues for weddings and civil partnerships.
As well as working their regular jobs and starting a family, Oliver and Dorota have remodelled one part of the building and restored another to offer what Oliver calls “something a little different for Spalding”.
Having recently secured the necessary licenses, the stage is now set for couples to tie the knot in the grand setting of the former court room or the restored, quirky
Buffalo Room.
“We tried to conserve the feel of the building as much as possible so it’s true to its roots,” Oliver said of the court room, explaining they’ve done the “minimum amount” in order to conserve its stature.
“The Buffalo Room (which features two hung buffalo head skulls) has a bit more of our personality in there,” he said of the second, quirkier, wedding venue option.
The Sessions House is now taking bookings and will be available to discuss options over a mulled wine this Sunday (October 21) at the open day, which runs from 11am to 3pm at The Sessions House, Sheep Market.
