‘Flower Parade 2023’ meeting

A meeting is to be held next week to discuss a proposal to bring Spalding’s Flower Parade back next year.

As reported last week, Steve Timewell has launched a campaign to return a popular event to the town.
He’s now set to hold an open public meeting at 7pm on Thursday, June 23 at the Constitutional Club in Broad Street, Spalding.

“It’s been ten years since Spalding had a flower parade, but it’s back for next year thanks to the support and dedication of the people of Spalding.

“The 2023 parade will put Spalding on the map and prove that we have a wealth of community.

“This is your parade, make it happen.”

Steve’s also launched a Just Giving page to raise £50,000 for the event and is urging Spalding residents to donate.

A statement on the page www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/flowerparade said: “The money raised will be spent on organising this unique event.

“There will be no personal financial gain for anyone. I have started the ball rolling to register as a charity so your donations are safe.

“In the very unlikely event that the parade does not happen, any money raised will be donated to local charities and all accounts will be published for all to see.

“However, I promise I will make sure that it does go ahead.”
