Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue received “over 100” calls last night in Pinchbeck and Spalding alone as the area received around a third of the rain it has so far this year in just a matter of hours.
The Met Office said its station at Holbeach recorded 145.6 millimetres of rain in 25 hours, nearly three times as much as anywhere else in the country.
As of 1.45pm on Wednesday, August 17, Lincs Fire and Rescue say both West Marsh Road and Acacia Avenue are currently closed due to flooding.
They’ve also asked for drivers not to drive through flood water.
A spokesman said: “We have had over 100 calls overnight and this morning to areas of Spalding and Pinchbeck regarding flooding, Our high volume pump is currently on West Marsh Road as we continue to support communities.”
