Flinders campaign lands in Parliament

The bid to bring the remains of explorer Matthew Flinders back to his birth place of Donington reached Parliament last week.

MP Sir John Hayes brought the matter up in a debate saying “South Holland simply wants to pay its final farewell to our master mariner”.

Mel Stride, leader of the House of Commons, described Flinders as “a very great nautical man” and said: “I will do whatever I can to assist Sir John in his quest to make sure that the remains of Matthew Flinders find their home where they should be, in Donington.”
