Division One runners-up Five Bells C ended their Holbeach and District Darts League season on a high as they won the Florida Cup at finals night on Friday.
Having missed out on the league championship by just four points to Anchor, the Tydd team saw off fellow high-fliers Horse and Groom 9-6 in the final at Tigers Social Club.
It was a different story in Division Two, as champions Rose and Crown cruised to the Skelton Cup crown to make it a double in the second tier. They dispatched Five Bells A 13-6 in the opening match of the night.
The only other team title up for grabs on finals night was the Tony Canham Cup (fives) – and there was something of a shock there.
That’s because Anchor, who only lost one game en-route to the Division One crown, were upset 3-2 by Horse and Groom – who avenged their earlier loss in the Florida final.
In singles competition, Rick Seaton defeated Andy Hircock 2-0 to progress to the Division One final against Colin Seaton, who dispatched Andrew Horspool 2-1.
The Division Two semi-finals saw Nick Horspool edge out Gary Skeels, while Hank Watson dumped out John Keogh 2-0.
The all-Seaton top-tier final was pretty close, with Rick – who nailed a 180 – emerging victorious 2-1.
It was a bit more one-sided in the second tier showdown, as Horspool saw off Watson in straight legs (2-0).
Meanwhile, Lisa Merrison got her hands on the ladies’ Peachey Cup trophy after seeing off Lindsey Wingell 2-0 in their face-off.
In the Gilder Pairs, Pete Richardson and Wingell booked their place in the Division One final by defeating Julian Whitehouse and Andrew Horspool 2-0.
Charlie Cunningham and Chris Dennis joined them with a 2-1 success over Lorren Grimsey and Ian Withers – and it was they who roared to a 2-1 triumph over Wingell and Richardson in the final.
The Division Two winners were Dawn MacTavish and Nick Horspool, as they beat Jim Peachey and Martin Ainsley 2-0.
